Hey everyone,
I'm throwing this out there as a problem I'm encountering at work right now, and I was wondering if anyone had experienced similar issues with Rigid Binding with references.
I work as a rigger, and I have spent some time creating a clean rig for a vehicle at work. The rig is working perfectly- but for our purposes my manager wants us to use a rigid bind for the mesh.
He also wants the functionality to turn on and off bits of the mesh using the reference editor (meaning, our mesh is referenced in.)
However, if I rigid bind the mesh, and reload the reference, or close/open the file- about half the pieces have been randomly translated and rotated throughout the scene.
I've seen these kind of issues with Rigid binds in the past, but I've never been able to pinpoint what causes it.
I've already double checked the rig and mesh- and both have been completely cleaned / frozen.
Furthermore, I've tried Smooth-binding with Max influences set to 1-- which works, but leaves behind a Foster Parent when the reference is unloaded, (which Rigid Binding does not).
Does anyone have an idea of the best way to resolve this- either by fixing the Rigid bind method, or by dealing with the Foster Parent in the Smooth bind situation?
