Hey people ...
In the last couple of months I've been looking for a good facial capture solution without any success. I've been at Siggraph this year and there was just one booth who demonstrated that field and I gotta admit it wasn't that impressive.
They (http://www.motioncapture.com/ (http://www.motioncapture.com/) -"Opti-track") used cameras and marker set with FaceRobot. The result was OK for Facial expression but not for speaking.
Searching the web for facial capture I'm receiving a couple very good samples from company's who sell their facial capture services (www.mova.com (http://www.mova.com) ,www.image-metrics.com, www.captivemotion.com (http://www.captivemotion.com)) but not a product I can buy.
another solution I thought might be usefull is using programs such as "magpie pro" , but yet again the results are poor.
I got a weird feeling I'm missing something out, there's gotta be a way to create good and accurate facial capture with a marker based system. (Anyone worked with Movimento? )
Being at a post Benjamin button era I assume we are looking towards a massive improvment in facial capture in feature films
the questions is is it too early for small studios to have a system like theirs in-house?
I'd love to receive more information or ideas on that matter or maybe just to start a discussion on facial capture.
Cheers.
