Please forgive me if I put this question in the wrong area.
I'm completely new to 3DS Max and only 3D I have any experience in is Poser but I'm getting to the point I'm sick of Poser and its limits. Relying on others to make props, etc. Always forced to use the same things everyone else does. I want to create what I want and make things myself. So I'm moving on to better programs. :D
I've seen some absolutely amazing interior pictures on this forum and figured this would be that place to ask. My question is, when you build an interior scene that is 2 story's tall, and has stairs... where exactly do you begin? First floor or 2nd Floor? Or does it matter?
I'm ashamed to admit, I play EverQuest (still!) and I want to attempt to recreate whats called the Guild Hall and try to bring it to life.
Here is what I am going to try to recreate: I should mention the other side is a mirror of this side and looks exactly the same.

and this is what I *had*

When I say had... I mean its gone. Somehow when I saved it, it saved wrong and autoback replaced it with a different picture. Looks like I will have to start all over again. Oh well. I had fun spending 2 days building that and learned a few things. LOL All about trial and error right? ;) Pay no attention to the textures there. I was goofing off experiementing with materials.
Any tips on interior modeling for total noobs would be greatly appreciated. :)
