Well I have mine set up with mouse mode. I found that a lot easier then pen mode. Then I mapped the top button to middle mouse button, and the bottom button to right click Then you can move the camera by clicking on the tablet and holding a button on the pen.

Generally:

With Maya, I mainly use pen mode - I find it quicker to work with.

I've got the tip set to click (ie Left Mouse Button)
Bottom button mapped to middle click and Top button mapped to right click. So you can move, rotate and zoom the camera view with the pen.

But you can also use the 4D mouse to good effect for certain tasks and you can of course set modifiers, key strokes, key combos, macros, etc to pen buttons or the 4D mouse which can be very handy for repetitive tasks.

With Wings 3D you can use the same setup havings wings 3D set to maya camera mode, however, you have to use the Mouse Mode as wings 3d gets a bit out of control using pen mode.
