Hey folx,

Anybody using an occlusion map generator for objects and not just views?

And this might be redundant but I would also like to know what are user using to generate normal maps on the Mac?

Brian thanks for your response.

Now I haven't heard of it. How is it? Is it Windows only? I'm looking in to it now.

I would like a mac-based ambient occlusion map maker.

BTW, have you tried it in Maya?

Hi Alonzo,

I use C4D 10.5 to bake ambient occlusion into a map and open Uv's intact via Obj2fact.

Cheers

Hi Alonzo,

since you are also a Maya user, this might be interesting for you:

Thanks guys, I did find the information I was looking for shortly after I posted.

I have been on a 3 day excursion with low-res geometry mapping. It started with Normal Maps in Maya which I didnt realize it could do. So it does every mapping type (AO, Disp, Norm, etc) directly to the model.

Then I tested the AO rendering that is just like EIAS. I knew there was an object based AO map with xNormal but I didn't want to go to PC. Yesterday, I finally did use the AO/Bake tutorial that Stefan suggested (thanks) and it's good but you have to prep your low rez model well for it to look good.

Zbrush has a very fast AO map but I wasn't sure how to view it until I did the Mudbox tutorial. Mudbox seems to have one of the "easiest". In ZB it's just as inuituitive and simple, problem is I couldn't see it because I had to switch to a flat color.

I was a little suprise that there isn't much info on it in ZB...but it just a maskingt type.

This is the AO mapped in EIAS on the HiRes object which of course is not the point but it should be effective when I have low Res geometry. BTW. these are two different model edits. This concludes my study into low res cloth geometry.
