Here is an image of the 'Space Jockey' inspired from the film ALIEN.

This depicts one on its home planet who's sun is a dying red giant.
The image was created in pencil, inked then scaned into Photoshop where I colored it. Now I see some problems long after finishing it that I didnt see before... (wind in bkgnd blowing different direction than foreground, etc...) but am still happy with the outcome. I used HR Gigers original design work, trying to stay true to it without painting it in the Giger airbrushy 'style'.
For some reason I am facinated with this concept and will probably explore some more variations of this character and its background. The idea of some extremely antient race with an advanced organic alien technology gets my creative juices going. This part of the 'ALIEN universe' has never been done before (to my knowedge) and I think it has great potential. Its just too bad it isn't my own idea but borrowed from ol' Giger. Well... I guess he must be used to it by now, all the horrible Giger rip-offs out there. I just hope this isn't viewed as another one.
