View Full Version : Renderman occlusion with CSG
stallion151 09-17-2009, 11:32 PM Hey guys,
got a quick question, I'm using the CSG in renderman 2 for maya 2008 sp1 and need to have an occlusion pass & renderman boolean's, but when i do that the occlusion comes out all black and foggy. 1 solution is to stick a light in the scene which overcomes this slightly but it isn't good occlusion in those areas, its oddly foggy.
just wanted to know if anyone know of a solution/suggestion for this...some attribute somewhere for forcing occlusion into those areas.
thanks

Are you using the latest version of RFM or RMS?
Occlusion (raytracing) wasn't supported for CSG in releases before RPS 13.5
I saw some related problem in the Pixar forums though, you may want to check there too.

CSG is not going to raytrace in that version. It supports raytracing in 3.0
There is even a bug in the current 3.0.1 version right now with occlusion in both raytraced and point based occlusion.
They might have a patch for it though if you have support.
