I'm using mental ray and rendering particles being displayed as spheres. The scene renders nicely in Maya with Mental Ray (Internal Renderer). When I render them in batch, they don't move. The camera is moving.
I have tried both cached and uncached. There's not alot of them, less than 10,000. I'm just using a simple AO surface shader.
The only way I'm able to get renders with the particles in motion is by using a MEL script to call Mayatomr and then advance the frame.
As a test I deleted the camera animation and exported .mi files for each frame. So the only thing moving in the file would be the particles. I got a directory full of identical .mi files so they weren't moving in there either.
Am I missing something?
Oh and I can't get the particle grid to bake. The individual paritlcle.pt[xx] nodes never show up in the graph. So the only thing that bakes is the shape node itself (am I missing something here?)
Thanks in advance!!!
