View Full Version : Problem With Layered Texture In Texture Mode...
Jacob 08-09-2003, 04:59 PM Every time I apply a layered texture to a surface in Maya 5, I get a sort of transparent or culled effect. It renders just fine, but in the texture view it is very annoying.
Does anyone know why it does this or how to fix it?

Are you using Maya 5? I think this is a bug that was introduced in 5.0. if this is the one I'm thinking of, it's been reported.

Thank you for the reply.
It's unfortunate that it ends in a 'bug' that can't be fixed.
I am a Maya instructor at a local college. This interferes with my texturing lesson.
Again...Thank You, Mark.

well, if you have the 4.5 install media, try installing 4.5 and using that. 4.5 should run fine with a 5.0 license, and I don't think it has this problem. You should be able to install 4.5 alongside 5.0 and not mess up your 5.0 installation too, which would allow you to go back and forth -- the only gotcha is that 5.0 files don't open in 4.5.
If it's the bug I'm thinking of, I've heard that it can also be worked around by having a fully opaque texture at the bottom of the stack of textures.
Finally, make sure that you're running the latest drivers for your video card.

I am using 5.o and 5.0 files unfortunately...but good idea.
As for the 'opaque' layer..I will try that immediately. Thank you again Mark. Hope to be able to help you out in the future.
