Hi Everyone:

Wow, the Maya help files blow chunks!
Can someone tell me how to do the following:

I have created a character set (set) and a subset (subset).

If I place a keyframe (by hitting 's') when I have the 'set' selected in the timeline, I end up with keyframes for everything in the 'set' AND everything in the 'subset'.

Is there a way to set keyframes on 'set' without laying down keyframes in the 'subset' items too?

Thank you!

I really prefer the old help files.
You used to be able to find just about everything in one place.
Now they suck- ( in my opinion )
All the same info is still there, but it's like they stuck
it in a blender, and I have to search for everything.

As far as the character sets.

The way I do it is like this:
Main character
Bodysubset
Leftarm subset
leftleg subset
head subset
etc
etc
The main char has no attributes ( its just a collection of the subsets)
Select the mainchar in outliner ( i usually make a mel button so I dont have to keep opening the outliner)
when you open the graph editor you can just select the subset(s)
you wish to key or you can key everything on the main char.

The timeline is basically useless(for editing anim) read up on the Graph editor that's where its at.

Thanks JoeSchmo!

That's a great technique. I'll try it out to get a feel for it.

Thank you for sharing!
