I've been teaching myself 3ds max by going through the book and (more specifically) developing this Model (first real 3d application, unless you count Strata plus 3.7, heh). My question has to deal with the camera lenses. I've been reading through the book that comes with max trying to familierize myself with the material editor, but I'm still very confused on how to use it properly. If you look at the reflection on a camera lens it looks different than a normal glass, but i don't know how to create the effect. I looked at Leigh's Texturing thread (part 6), but my glass looked nothing like hers :surprised All help to point me in the right direction is appreciated. I'll continue plugging through the book to try and grasp an understanding of the material editor, but i must admit i'm completely new to texturing so i think it might take some time. Please excuse the Camera, the body isn't completley finished yet and it's in low poly form (obviously..).

Hey there, i'd recommand you go through neil blevin's (http://www.neilblevins.com/cg_education/cg_education.htm) tutorials to get a good understanding of Materials handling.
As for your lenses materials, i'd venture to say that using a falloff map in the reflection slot and tweaking the IOR of your material might be a good way to start (and probably better use ray tracing).

Well, thank you for the link and the suggestion. I'll give those things a try. Wish i had gotten a better response from this, heh. Oh well.
