View Full Version : some questions of beginner (raytracing..)
powermac 08-08-2003, 03:40 PM Hi,
I am a 3ds max user and I am learning how to use Maya now.
I´ve some qustions:
Is possible to select vertex like in max - by softselection?
Is possible to make in raytrace- reflection distance(like in max)?
thanx!

Welcome to Maya's world, great choice

More than that, Maya has many unlimited poly/vertex tools :scream:

Of course

ops:)
I know how to use raytrace in Maya, but how can I get more options for distance of reflect? I mean maximum distance in scene for reflection on object..
max users knows what I mean:)

1. Create a new material for your object (like lambert1 or something)
2. Open Raytrace Options
3. Turn on Refractions
Then you'll be able to set :
- Refractive Index
- Refraction Limit (this is the reflection distance, like Max)
- Transluence Depth
- Light Absorbance
- Surface Thickness
- Shadow Attentuation
For more raytrace option with Maya, you should use Maya with Mental Ray :)
