View Full Version : using geometry as input (driver) in render tree?

Hi,

I searched for a while for bbox inputs for mental ray's physical sun and finally found them "hidden" in it's node in render tree.

Now, the next challenge is to hook up a cube for those values - how exactly does one hook up geometry in the render tree or drive values with geometry?

Alright, I better update this...

I stumbled across the get- and setdata-nodes in ICE - I suppose these can be used to get the points of a piece of geometry and hook them up in the sun's bbox values?

I already figured out how to use setdata with the sun - that was pretty easy, I now have the node ready to feed values for bbox x, y and z - both min and max.

But how do I retrieve the points from the cube? pointlocation? pointposition? or some other node completely? I kind of lost here :)
