View Full Version : Sci-fi blaster
Hello this is my first thread here at cgtalk.
This blaster is intended to be in a starwars-mod for Jedi Outcast. Modeled, mapped and skinned by me. :scream:

oh, and the model is ~1200 polys

The skin looks good (though maybe too many highlights)? The main problem is 1200 polys is way too much..especially if that not even considering a tesselated count. You can reduce those concace/convex surfaces without loosing too much geometric detail.
Also you have geometry for the shaft under the handle.. No one is going to see that unless the gun comes apart. Delete those faces.

I havent gotten to optimizing the model yet and i thought nobody would notice those faces on the screenshot :) And some parts (that are to e optimized) havent been textured properly yet.
Anyways, feedback is always nice ;)

i really like the texture but it looks too grainy. it seems like the reflections should be a lot sharper.

I like the textures. I agree they should be a bit more sharp, possibly a bit more contrasty too.

Actually some of the textures where ripped from photos of the actual gun, but when i get home i'll try to increase the contrast and sharpen the whole texture sheet.
