Hi All,

I am working on some pixie dust fx and was hoping someone could help with getting rid of the slight dark edge round the image (with alpha).

I am using Sprites and Maya Hardware to render the scene.

any Ideas?

Thanks

You should re-create your sprite images but w/out pre-multiplication. That will take care of that edge. Maya doesn't do well w/ premultiplied images for sprites.

Hi Jeremy Fernsler,

Thank you for the response. Can you recommend the best way of doing this please. I rendered the sprite images in Maya with an alpha. Would it be best to take those images and re-render them in after effects adding a bit more control over the edges?

This is a quick video showing what I am striving to achieve.

Thanks Alot

yeah, i'd probably just unpremult in ae or any other compositing app.

Hi Jeremy Fernsler,

Thanks for the reply - That is what I have ended up doing. Still a slight edge but better than it was before.

Make sure you have the alpha for the sprites when you import them in AE set to "premultiply" instead of the default of "straight"

Hey thanks Deke Kincaid, I will try that on my next version of the sprites.
