I've a problem with the glowing of the lightning.
I've a model where i want to put 4 lightnings on, but when i do this, the wohle model is glowing white. well, i changed the color an the glow intensity, but the model still was shining in the original colour an glow intensity! only the lightning itself changed the colour and glow intensity.

1st question: how can i change the colour and glow intensity of the glowing from the objects

2nd: all polygons of the model where shining, altough other objects where in front of the objects. how can i change those settings, so that there's a shadow or something else?

PS: excuse my english, i'm german.

i dont know the exact answer for your problem but you can render the lightnings seperate and composite them later

ah this wont work because the lithings are too difficult to composite them (they won't merge with the background which should be lighted too)

Aha...so there you are the problems :scream:
Anyway why don't you use paintFX tools to create those Lightnings ?
PaintFX has great Lightning's option, also colors and glow intensity :)

ehm PaintFX? I dont know this program. is it included? where can i use it?
...

anyway i changed the settings "colour" and "glow intensity" but these settings only influence the lighntings, not the objects beeing lighted

Whoah...PaintFX tools is built-in with Maya :)
Go to rendering panel, and select Paint Effects then Get Brush, lots of great Lightnings there

I mean scene light, not those lightning :)
There's no lights at all on those scene ?
Thats why your scene looks too bright
Try to put only one light in a front of those gun and turn on use depthmap shadows :)

So it should be like this one :)

well, i used the lightning "goldSparks" but "lighntingRed" doesnt glow. i'll try this lightning now in my scene (rendertime 30 min.)

but i didnt really understand you.
i've 2 lights in the scene. the sun and a point light on the other side, so that you see the model (otherwise it would be dark)

you want me to put a (point)light inb front of the model an turn on the funktion "use depthmap shadows?

OHMYGOD!
i found that stupid problem:banghead: :banghead:
sorry for my stupidness:

i modelled in the gridmode (key "4")
i wanted the middel of my model glowing in one colour, so i changed that colour. but other objects used that colour too, so all they were glowing in this colour :banghead: but i didnt see it because i didnt see the textures :hmm: ah well altough thanks, because the dynamic-lightnings really was glowing so bright.

but now another question: how did you make the grass? it looks much better than mine. my grass looks too "good" i want more brown grass..

DeathBrain

I used 1 spot light with red/yellow color in top of those browny ground area...
Green (grass) + Red & Yellow (light) = browny looking grass ;)

Hey... In case this is helpful later, you can use light linking.
You can set some lights to light some objects, and some lights to light none. You can get lots more control like this, save render time, etc.
