CGTalk - Editing Geotiffs

Is it possible to view and edit/convert Geotiffs in Photoshop?
Basically i want to open and view a geotiff I have, preserving the 16bit data enbeded in it and save it out as a 16bit greyscale tiff for displacement in Maya.
Any ideas?
