View Full Version : Where did the unwrap uvw +/- tree go?

I started with a car and wheels. I had no trouble using unwrap uvw modifier on the wheels. However, when ever I click on the car body itself, and add an unwrap uvw modifier, the modifier shows up, but I get no +/- tree list. And the roll out is greyed out. Oddly enough I can toggle the modifier on and off but what is the point? I assume it is something silly I over-looked in the documents?

i found the subobject dissapears if i try to unwrap something that has a subobject selection further down the stack

not really

i dont know what you are trying to do

but you could either collapse the stack

or split the mesh and join them together after texturing

Well right under my unwrap uv is my Editable Poly modifier. If I colapse the stack, then you still have an editable somethign modifier there. There is nothing else present under that or above so I am at a loss here.

But thanks for the tip.

BTW if anyone wants to check out the problem, here is my file. Try to add the unwrap uv modifier (working) to the main car body.

i have tested it and it seems to be working

it seems to be a problem with either your computer or your copy of max

try re installing windows

Do you have max 5.1 or max 5? Max 5.1 fixes some issues with greyed-out modifiers.

Also, the Unwrap mod will disable SubObject mode if it is being passed another SubObject selection from a modifier below it. I haven't examined your file, but what if you add a Poly Select mod below Unwrap (to stop the SubObject selection from passing up the stack), then delete the Unwrap mod and re-add it to the stack?

I tried adding the poly select still no fix. Though I have 5.0, so I am hoping that 5.1 patch may fix it. I will try on getting that patch durin the night and then we shall see.

Probably it. Do you have any space warps applied to the object?

Fixed! That 5.1 from 5.0 upgrade did it. I am still shocked that such an obvious major bug in such a simple scene could go un-noticed in development?

I think i'll wait a long time before getting 6.0. Let some other sucker be the tester!
