View Full Version : Software to aid in drawing displacement maps?

I want to try some things where I create 2D drawings or take photographs and then create displacement maps to match these images. So far the only way I have figured to create a displacement map like this is to use a vector drawing program and to trace out the different shapes and then use black to white gradients to estimate the displacement map within an area. Its hard to be precise with this method so I'm wondering if anyone knows if there are any software programs specifically for drawing / creating displacement maps. Thanks for any info.

There are a few programs out there that can help.

Thanks for the response.. I've tried crazy bump.. actually I am going to try it again as I think it'll work for the photos but I guess I am wondering if there is anything where you can draw displacement maps more easily than just doing it in a drawing program... for things where you don't have a photo.
