View Full Version : Save/load layouts?

I don't know if this has been asked before, (I did a quick search and doesn't seem like it)... but is it possible to save/load different workspaces configurations?. What I mean is, usually when I'm animating, I have the graph editor in the bottom along with the pose sliders, and on top the PWS and the viewport window. When I model, I hide all of them and just use the viewports, PWS and (if I'm creating poses) the pose slider. Thing is, anytime I change from one to the other I have to manually move stuff around, I wondered if there was any way to save different screen layouts so that I could switch from one to the other with just a click/menu.

If there isn't, maybe that's an idea for a plugin writter looking for cool ideas?... what does everyone think?.. :)

I don't know if it will work, but you could try creating different preference files for A:M. (Do Windows programs have preference files? I'm on a Mac.)

On a Mac, you would set up th workspace of A:M the way you want it, then close A:M. Drag the preference file from it's location in the system folder and put it in a folder named for the workspace you just created. Do the same for a different setup. Then you can drag copies onto the A:M pref file in the system folder to replace the existing one if you want to change the layout. Of course you have to do that before you start up A:M, which is not as convenient as you would probably like.

Not really sure which file is where A:M keeps the preferences in windows... anyway, it feels like more trouble to switch layouts that way.... Thanks, though... :)

hmmm... maybe a bored plugin developes might take this as a challenge... ;)
