Looking great.
He doesn't scare me though. He seems like a grumpy guy but once you gain his trust he will be a great friend.

Nice work on the horns.
I think what makes him look cute are the legs. He has something rabbit. Maybe the colors too are soft and sweet, nothing harsh... Maybe. : p

Yea i am not amazing with color -- quite frankly it kind of scares me. I don't want to make something amazing then try to use unique colors then ruin the painting...
If you wanted to you can paint over to suggest certain methods -- but that's up to you.

Well I have no special method with colors.
But contrast, hard edges and saturated colors (pure colors) are things that makes an image attack the viewer, when the soft contrast and soft colors get the composition and subject more gentle.
The light green you picked for the inside of the mouth is very soft and nice. It has a little bit of blue in it and it's a cold tone, it should appear to be backside. But it contrasts a lot on the dark green that you have aside, and it has very smooth edges that constrast with the rest of the piece, then it doesn't appear in the back but it pops up very much, wich I think you don't want, because it's in the back of his throat, right?
The pinky red you have just aside this green for the mouth has kind of the same value as the green and they appear kind of flat, relating to each other. This red is very soft too, it's not a violent color.
I think that having harder edges and contrast for the things that are the nearest should help to get this green back (the teeth, the eyes, the front of the mouth, the horns...)
To get your monster more violent -though I dunno if you want that-, maybe you can have more saturated colors on specific parts (mouth, eyes, arm and nearest leg), more constrast, harder edges and also a more solid position for the anatomy of the legs: By now he looks a bit unbalanced, he looks like he's gonna jump every where, that makes him look funny and it has something from cartoon, while something that we identify more as human becomes more frightening, more real and nearer to us.
But it's up to you, I dunno if you want to keep him a gentle fellow or not. : )

Good advice from Smirtouille. The new approach takes getting used to.
But works out great I think.

hehe, it is very great advice but honestly the pic was kind of to poke fun at him -- it was a joke. I am still working on the mouth and taking his advice in for the real painting.
