View Full Version : Lightwave with BodyPaint 6
KHALID 08-07-2003, 08:09 PM Any one uses Lightwave with BodyPaint 6 on the MAC OSX with Lightwave7.5??
I tried posting my quotations on the Maxon forums but I think no one new the answers for my Questions-!!
My main question was about the Plugin for LW>2>BP AND back, I have problems in making it work for me, I tried every thing but it still does not work, I really love BP but I can't use it for the purpose that it was built for! Does any one have experience in this? can anyone lead me threw this problem, my brother uses it on Pc no problem, Only on the Mac OSX were this is an issue to me...I hope some one nows!!
Thanks for you support:hmm:

bp6? i don't know which version of bodypaint your'e talking about. but if it's bodypaint 2, then with the early bird (it's fixed in the final release) you must make sure that the paths specified in the plugin have no spaces in them. (Like "c:/My Programs/Bodypaint 3D" would be bad, but "c:/My_Programs/Bodypaint_3D" or "c:/MyPrograms/Bodypaint3D" would be ok). dunno if htis helps.

If you look at your box /manual and cd for the original bodypaint. It was called Bodypaint 3d / Release 6 (written on the mechanical hand). It was released at the same time as XL 6 was released. Why the named the first iteration of BP R6, I just dont know.

maxon should be able to help you with this really really easily...support is free and should be used for stuff like this...that way no one gives you rubbish information and you get it from the horses mouth so to speak.
use maxon support they are very nice and friendly and won't bite...otherwise maybe someone else may know a bit more about the lightwave integration but shouldn't be a problem...
that said...do go and look at the new version of bodypaint..because it will absolutely blow your mind and you will want an upgrade...believe me..

Hi,
Just wanted to step in here and try to help out with this as much as possible. The Exchange plugin originally had some issues with LW on OSX. Make sure you are running LW 7.5b \ c because I believe (someone correct me if I am wrong) the original 7.5 release killed almost all third party plugins in LW which could cause problems.
One thing I would really recommend is completely reinstalling LW; because if you had the first version of the Exchange installed than tried to install the new version over the old one the LW Hub will still look at the old exchange plugin which will cause it not to work. So if you reinstall LW and install the newest Exchange plugin the LW hub will definately look to the right plugin. I hope this helps.

Thanks Josh,
I will try that & tell you what happens, And thanks for getting back on track, for a second there I thought that people on these forums don't really want to help others in need, they just want to have a chat here and there.
Some one asked me .....
It's not that I did not try to contact them or that I don't have a registration, I even tried calling the US MAXON the France MAXON and finally England, either i get no answers or there support tells me ups! sorry we will get back to you , but no one does... my problem is not that I did not try, my question is what should I do to get Tek support on BP, keep in mind that all the contact ways that I tried are the normal way to contact a major products in the market-!!
Again thanks Josh, I will try what you have asked but can you help me a bit more and post me the actual location for the actual plugin download for LW7.5>>BP for OSX..I don't want to get confused in witch one to use
Thanks brother:)

OK, to clear a few things up. There was a little confusion at the launch of BP whether it should be called BodyPaint 1 or BodyPaint 6. In the end it was called BP 6 because it shared the same core functionality of XL6. since then someone has decided it would be a better idea to keep the version numbers seperate. Hence the new BP 2.
Anyway, back to the problem. Yes, the plugin may very well break as newtek change stuff each release, but thats just the way things are.
1) Make sure you have the very very latest LW version, there are many failed and broken versions inbetween 7 and 7.5c which won't work.
2) Make sure you have the hub running. I know its crap, but it is needed.
You should phone the maxon office where you either purchased it, or whichever is nearest you. Only the uk, us, japan and german maxon offices have a full tech support team, most others are generally sales and representation offices, although they will often help the best they can.

Give me a working Number for the support, A number that real people answer the phones, because for the last 5 to 6 months that I have tried contacting there offices in Germany Us or Uk, my phone or email them or even post on there Forums -((nothing))-, I thought that no one works there anymore, but there site is still up & running & they have newer versions coming up..Duu!!! & I got more feed back in one or two posts on this sites then 6 months on the Maxon... So you tell me Whats going on!!:argh:

Strange that you have those support problems. C4D and BP users are usually very happy about the support. Where exactly did you purchase your version of BodyPaint? Was it done online, or did you buy it at a reseller?
Cheers,
BaRa

Hi BaRa,
It's a was purchased threw a reseller in Germany, And I spoke to there tek support & they said they will get back to me 3 times, then I spoke to the ones in UK & they were very snobbish, Tek support gay says" I am busy now, send me an email" as if they are doing me a favor on there free time!!at the same time I go with the flow & email them once or twice, the reply that I got is we are trying to get Tek support for your question, after the third email a month later I gave up on these people, for 11 years that I have been in touch with Tek support of many software this one wines the award of Tek support of the world-!! Please don't get me wrong I love BP, But I will love it more when I can us it with LW, unfortunately after 8 months of the original day of the perches of BP I still see the BP Box sitting on my office shelf, What should I do? I don't want to talk this way but do you know any one that works there so that I would be sure of getting sum help with BP>>LW??

Hi flingster,
As I said before, I really Appreciate all the effort of all Cinema 4D or in my case BP users on the CG talk, you gays have been very supportive, You have helped me more in one Thread, then all the time that I have put in the last few months, I hope that things change for me & BP, I hope that I get what I need from the Maxon support, I think I will try harder to get them to help me.. Thanks guys for your support & if you now any direct contact or anyone that has the same problem With LW >>BP please post this page again:wavey:
Hi Khalid,
i'm sorry to hear you had trouble reaching Maxon techsupport.
With the answers form Josh and Mash you got the voices of two of Maxons best techsupport people (or in Mashs case Ex techsupport ;)
If those answers don't help you feel free to contact Maxon support under one of the following mail adresses:
support @ maxon.net
support_us @ maxon.net
support_d @ maxon.net
Usualy the first adress is the correct one for customers from Bahrain, but since the guys over in UK are pretty busy right now maybe the US guys can help you out. The last adress is from german techsupport which can only give you support in german. If all fails please contact me at b_marl @ maxon.net
Sorry again

WaW!! I almost feel ashamed:D thanks a lot Srek,
You have really insured me & brought back my faith in this Dark area that I just wanted to give up about. I thought I would just try out my Luke in this Forum! I wish I have got on this site long time back. You have to understand That I am A LW user originally & when I new that I was limited in LWs UVs & painting OBJs, I Looked around for other solutions, I found 2 solutions Body Paint or Deep Paint, & since I am A Mac user It narrows out to one (BP), I was skeptical at first, But as soon as I downloaded the Demo, WoW! I was blown away, I ordered It within a week from the demo test, Then I get all the plugin problems+Support issues!!
Well from tomorrow I will do what was asked from me to do, Witch is un-Installing BP & starting out fresh with the support Addresses that you have suggested. & if you don't mind I will contact you If I get stuck Again.( I will take your word for it)
Thanks A lot again Srek & I am happy that there are still helpful people out there that just Like to help...

There is one possibility, which may or may not apply. We.... well, they now I guess... have had asian and arab users phone for tech support, but their english was too much of a problem to help. In these cases we have asked them to send an email either because their written english is much better, or so that we can babelfish their native language.
