Hey again,

Here is another little clip I am working on. Took a break from the fight scene to do this typical weigth lift excercise. Know it's got work to do, but decently happy with the flow so far, some weigth feeling is missing though.

any C&C is most appreciated as always.

I rather like that. I think the posing and timing is working well.

I like that the bar flexes a bit even when he fails to lift it at first.

My only doubt is center of gravity when he's first pulling it into his "lap". Maybe he's not leaning far enough back? I dont' know.

Do weight lifters really use such a wide grip? That would seem harder.

Ok... picky little point related to that wide grip...

when he grabs the bar his hands are pretty much addressing the bar perpendicular. Ok so far...

but then when he pulls up, his arms would be pulling his wrists in toward the center. How could they not with all the force being applied?

But they remain exactly perpendicular throughout.

Thanks for the feedback.

I looked at some youtube videos and they seem to do different grabs, some wide, some not so wide. I am not into weights, hehe, so not sure if its technique or defendant on kilos or what.

Here is one that show a wide at the intro, but the rest use a narrower grip, and related videos also got a wide variety:)

And the hands need to angle more with the arm as he lifts, or maybe the angle will be more natural if I make the grip narrower. will test it out.

Will check out the center of gravity some more too, and show several angles on my next upload.

Cheers

Here is an update of what i had time to play with today. Cleaned up the keys, and got smoother arcs. also added a little cheat(if it was a competition) to help him lift the weight.hehe.

the end is still a bit lazy, need to tweek that, but starting to be happy with the rest.

Here is a new update of the Lift Weigth clip I was working on. I played around with MR physical sun and sky, to try and find a decent looking render. No motion blur atm.hehe.

I think I am almost done.

any C&C is most appreciated before i say FIN for this one

I think that's pretty convincing. I can only see it at 12fps because it's too big for my PC. Really 640x480 would be fine for a reel.

But I think it's on track. Except for the very end. that barbell bounces like a beach ball. Just a tiny blip bounce at the end would do better

You might have one end hit a hair before the other so the bounces can be offset.

Cheers for that. I have started adding a bit off offset bouncing, and a lot less bouncing, and it does look better. Think I was just looking at reference, and not thinking about that they compete on a bouncy surface, while my character is just showing off somewhere:)

I did 720p, as I thought that would be decent size to include on a DVD I send out. But for web, I guess I should make it a bit smaller.

Thanks again
