Hey guys i'm hoping someone can help me with this texturing issue. It's for my demo reel and been bugging me for a while. I modeled these trees but I cant think of a way to texture them properly. I can paint the textures fine but the problem I am having is how I should map them. I've tried cylindrical and planar, but the geometry doesnt seem to work right with either one. Does anyone have a solution, this is probably a smaller problem than im making it out to be. Please, anything will help.

Yeah, UVing a tree can be tough. Try selecting roughly-cylindrical sections and applying a cylinder UV to each of them individually. You'll get some seams though.

If you're using 3ds max, you could recreate your trees with something like TreeMaker, which creates the UVs for you. Still has seams though, not perfect, but still much easier. It allows a lot of editing during the creation process, and you could also edit afterwards to some extent, without losing the UVs it made.

Thanks for the info, it means alot. I am using maya but I will apply what you said anyway. I believe I can blur the seems a beat and make them less apparent with the 3d paint tool.
