View Full Version : Convert HDR images to Light Domes on MacOS X
Anadin 08-07-2003, 01:36 PM Does anyone out there know if there are any apps that could help to make light domes.
I have the HDRShop and Lightgen plugin for cinema. When I use the plugin in HDRShop (in Virtual PC) it tells me the plugin failed to exit and I don't get a text file.
We are trying to do a HDR animated render and the stochastic mode is about 10 times slower than otherwise. My reading of the manual pretty much says I have to use stochastic in an animation.
Any other ideas?

There is an app for OSX called Photosphere that is supposed to be able to create hdr's, but only the type taken with the chrome sphere method, it wont let you do one with the bracketed panoramic images.
It's also not the easiest app in the world to find, i have a link here to the version i've got but i dont know about any newer or improved versions. :)

just use ditools dicloner on a sphere with the hdri, and a light (the light will pick up the texture color, so you prolly want to set the brightness value down to 1% or something on the lights seeing as there will be so many of them).

I know SimonW is using Photosphere to create panoramic HDRIs, so it is possible. I believe it requires some trickery though, as you have to recreate the EXIF data for each stitched exposure.
