y2mii 05-14-2002, 04:54 PM I have polygon character model out and after modeling it, I later decided I wanted to cut the arms out and make the arm and body a two different objects. how do i do that? without having to delete the arm and modeling a new arm?

Duplicate your object and freeze. Remove the polygons that form the body.
On the original remove the polygons that form the arms.
Et voilą!

u can also select the polygons in the arms area and then use the Poly.Mesh>Extract From Polygons command..
freeze the new polymesh, then select the original body and in polygon mode delete the polygons which r already selected.
what Atyss wrote before is good too but with the extract command u have less work to do..it's only the arms extracted so u don't have to select the body polygons in the new polymesh and delete them..u save some time especially if u later u decide to seperate more parts from your character
