Here is what I have done so far. Can you tell me if I did things well, or if there are things I need to go back and change, or a better way to do the UV's, or any help at all would be greatly appreciated. I am very new to this Texturing thing, and I have not quite figured it out yet.

Looks OK to me. I would suggest tiling the grid a few times across your surface, like 5x5. When using a grid with large flat color areas in it, you can miss some stretching problems.
