Hi everyone!
This is my first post of my CG work. I'm an animator, but after taking a year off from school, I decided to work on my modeling skills as most places want animators that can model as well.

I know the image has a little copyright tag on it to my gallery, but its not intentional :annoyed:

I'm currently trying out a couple of styles for the body, and will probably post that later.

Comments and criticism welcome, as well as any modeling/shading tips :)

Stylized characters are always difficult to crit or comment on because it all depends on what look you're going for.

That being said, she's a nice enough character - I like the hair, but you might want to consider a few modifications to the face. First off, maybe move the cheekbones out toward the outer corner of her eye - at the moment they appear to be directly beneath the eye. I would also consider shaping the nose a bit better as well to make it look more human - its a bit too angular and a bit too bulbous at the bottom - lacks detail.

Hope thats a help

I agree with FallenSwordsman...
...It doesn’t seem that you spend too much time on modelling it. (?) You should ad some smoothness and put in a few more polygons, so my suggestion is to spend more time on the face instead of beginning modelling a body...

Which software do you use?

I'm using Maya 4.5, and i'm not really that much of a modeler.
The goal was something moderately low-poly so i'd have a different than "basic" character for animations.

I'll work more on the face and try to model it smoother though. Thanks.

Modelling can be tricky to learn despite the fine examples you get around here so don't beat yourself up too much if you can't get the results you want at the start. I think you need to pay attention to the points I made about the shape of the face though plus you might want to work the nose a bit better - it doesn't have to be highly detailed, just less angular and less bulbous at the end.
