hi guys
i wanted to fade out some dust (shape facing) over time. particles are textured with various diffuse/opacity maps to make it look dusty.
this means i can't use my opacity slots (std materials) for the particle age map.
thought i try using a blend material with
1: the dust
2: simple material with opacity set to 0
mask: particle age map
but this makes my render pretty much freeze as soon as its reaching the dusty regions.
i had no issues in this scene with various transparencies before until i tryed what i described above. if simply using particle age on the opacity slot, it also works - but thats killing all the detail and i'd like to keep the maps procedural.
any idea what could be a reason for this or how to get around that problem?
(3ds max 8; 32bit)
thank you
