I was serious ready to purchase the academic version of cinema 4D XL R8 and changed my mind to get the academic version of Lightwave. But then I heard that the Alias has made it to where a academic license for Maya won't expire. I think thats great, but the price isn't. So then I thought that maybe I should learn Maya PLE before I spend $600. Who cares about the watermark, this is a free version of the complete maya product for a non-commercial use! So anyways I am not really good at 3D and totally new to it. I was just wondering if there are any Maya books out there for people new to 3D and that has tutorials on makin game models. Also maybe I could use another mac 3D software that cost below $100 with an easy learning-curve. Sometimes those maya watermarks can get annoying. Any suggestions?

There is a Maya tutorials thread (http://www.cgtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=7)
in the maya forum, there 's a ton of tutorials for beginner, and more advanced, you should find some interesting informations.

Plus, 4 forums about specific features of Maya and the general forum.

Hope it helps
