Hi all

Having trouble figuring out how to make nParticles obey radiusPP expressions.
basically i want my particles to be 0 radius until they start moving then have a rand radius chosen with another att in creation. I tried using the speed option in the radius ramp but it made my sim unstable and the cache wouldnt work afterwards. I also tried writing an expression on the radius slider but go figure it was on a per object basis.

is there a place to disconnect the radius so i can add the radiusPP att?

any help would be appreciated.
thanks

i think no need to break connection, just try to do with "if" and "else" condition expression.

Hey Mandark,

You dont need to break any connections.

Go down to the per particle array attributes, and add a radiusPP from the particle tab's pp attributes. Now the radius ramp will continue to work until you enter an expression. Once an expressions is introduced to the radiusPP, that takes priority over the ramp. After you write your expression, you just need to rewind to start frame and run.

Good luck,

I tried it just to double check, works fine here. Try restarting Maya... if that doesnt work, try setting up a simple test scene and test the radiusPP on it.

thanks Wicked it didnt work at first then i restarted maya and it worked fine. Shouldve been the first thing i tried but i got stuck on the idea that i had to disconnect the radius because of the internal connections made in nparticles. Thanks for you help
