View Full Version : Textures : Free HDRI Probes
Kel Solaar 08-06-2003, 09:48 PM Hello :) I have made some HDRI Probes, and I know it's very difficult to find free probes, so I decided to share them. They were made with a mirror ball but they didnt cover the full 360° range (It's too time consuming to produce such probes). They work very well for me and i hope it will be as good for you :)
You can find them in the ressource section of my website:
http://kelsolaar.3dvf.net
Here is the direct link:

If there is a problem (Zip damaged or something else) email me.
Good Rendering everybody :)

Hello, I have just made a little tutorial about HDRI Probe Color correcting in 3dstudio Max:

Thanks for sharing!
There's a HDRI thread with more links in the Cinema 4D section...
http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=76646
There's probably more threads elsewhere. Used to be one in the 3ds max section, can't find it.

I have just uploaded 3 new probes :). I tried to create a full 360° probe taking two sequence of picture with a 90 ° angle, is there a simply method to blend the two resulting probes? because the only one i found is to remake two LDR sequence from the probes and try to fix the distortion combining each sequence, it's very hard and long!!! Is someone having a solution? Using a probe wich is not full 360° is not a problem for me but it will be better for everybody if the futur probe i'll do cover the full 360% range.
Good rendering, and if there is a problem with the probes mail me :)

Thanks a zillion for sharing...that for sure will work perfect for me...
But i´m wondering one thing...
How do you set it up to use the little map for lightning, and a different one for reflection?
Do you use the small-lighning in environment, and the big-reflections in the reflections of every single object?
Is it like that, or am i missing something...?
btw, i´m using max too...
Thanks

I'm using Brazil and Vray for the rendering.
Brazil: put the lightmap in the Brazil : Luma Server skylight map slot and the reflect map in the Environment Map slot of 3DSmax Environment panel. Be sure the two map are in Coordinates Environment Spherical
Vray: In Vray Environment you have two overrides : In GI Environment (Skylight) I put the lightmap and in the reflection/refraction etc, environment I put the reflect map
That's it :))

Hello :)
I have updated all probes for a better use: They have been scaled so that the initial exposure is higher (you don't have to use high oupout value in order to produce lightning) and the gamma of lightmap and reflexions map have been adjusted to be used directly in 3d package (HDR pictures are loaded at gamma 1 in software, and you see them by default at gamma 2.2 in HDRShop that's why they appear to be very dark when you don't adjust the gamma)
