If you are talking about the morphing that mystique does, then the effect was accomplished with a plugin from Kolektiv. The plugin is Stroika Animation. Here is the low-down on the NL Blendshape feature
The Non-Linear Blendshape (NLB) allows you to control the blending of multiple surfaces using Maya's shading nodes. NURBS Surfaces and Curves, Polygonal Surface and Lattices can all be controlled using this powerful tool.
The Non-Linear BlendShape can be used to perform functions such as :
Morphing between face shapes using a projected ramp texture or file texture to simulate the pulling of muscles.
Real-time displacement of surfaces using file textures, 3D textures, or even the new ocean shader.
Using Artisan, paint the weighting between multiple shapes allowing you to quickly model multiple face shapes or variations of face shapes.
