I haven't updated yet (I know...) because I heard some horror stories from people. Was there some kind of graphics card problem or something like that?? Somewhere I remember seeing there was a major problem.

What happens to your plugins when updating???

I'm on a Mac running OS 10.2.

Anyone know what I'm talking about??

er... everything works fine if you update. the only "horror stories" were when the first updater that was released didn't like it if you didn't have the full studio bundle, but maxon released a fixed updated installer within acouple of days. so there's literally no reason to not update. (i'm surprised this thing is still hanging on in there, it's been how many months since it came out and was fixed?)

I'm on a PC, but going from v8 to v8.1 was pretty seamless. Maybe only one plugin stopped working, but it was really one of the ones I didn't use anyway. I removed it and that was that. I suspect that the 8.1 -> 8.2 transition will be the same.

Thanks, gang! Tonight...I update!

Anyone know when 8.2 will be ready? BP2 needs that to run, right?

No. I think that the 8.2 update is still free. Supposedly, it'll be on Maxon's site in a couple of weeks. I find it a bit curious that, if 8.2 isn't yet finished, it'd ship with BP2 early. Apparently, Maxon has a time machine. ;)

hehe well I think its more of an installer thing is still in works and 8.2 documentation (addendum)

I can see the documentation taking some time, but not the installer. That's really just a script.

hehe installers are a lot more difficult then you assume cookpuss, you forget just how bad an installer can bee look for posts from when 8.1 came out.

Not to mention the challenge they had to get around for those with BP1 that want to upgrade C4d to 8.2 but aren't getting the upgrade for BP2. BP1 can no longer integrate into C4D 8.2 or higher (something to consider before upgrading from 8.1 to 8.2 if your a bp1 owner) Installers can be a very tricky thing, as a beta tester anytime something comes close to release it seems like I stop testing any tools and such for a week and do installs over and over and over.
