View Full Version : Disable Hair System while Animating?

Hi all:
I am animating w/a rig that uses the hair system to add motion to a mesh (a flour sack).
It works nicely, however, while animating I'd like to turn off the hair system.
I've selected the hair system nodes/deleted the cache, and also turned off the evaluation of all nodes except IK Solvers and constraints, but the hair continues to deform the mesh while animating (and it deforms it incorrectly). How do I turn the hair system off? Also, after deleting the hair cache in the menu, the cache file is not deleted from the data directory - is that a bug?
Thanks.

You should be able to select the hairSystem node and in the channel box set the shape's simulation method from "All Follicles" to "Off". That should stop the hair moving.

As far as the hair cache is concerned, I was going to suggest going to the "Delete Cache" option box and choosing 'Files on Disk' > Delete Files (as opposed to 'Keep Files'), but then I discovered that there isn't an option box for deleting hair caches (there is for nCaches)...
