View Full Version : Environment: Jet-Hangar
Banshee 08-06-2003, 02:37 PM Hi!
I´ve reworked the model and textured the whole scene.
Hope you like it! Any helpful comments?

Hi - Neat concept. The render fails to convince me though for several reasons. You have some real scale issues. Based on the size of the fuel drums (55gal?) The chain links look gigantic, like battleship anchor chains. The textures look too large as well and too uniform. Smaller details will help establish the size of your craft.
You might try a cleaner more high-tech look, like a modern fighter plane, with small panel and marking details rather than the bare metal look.
I question the inclusion of chains as well. You've imagined this technology that produced this high tech craft, and they're dragging it around with rusty chains?
The lighting looks unreal, like it's a small scale model lit by a bare bulb off to the side. I'd suggest several lights arranged in a grid, like you'd expect to see hanging from a hangar ceiling.

Nice one! The effect on the lights is great! How did you do them?

The scale of the objects make it look like a miniature on a miniature set. Like something from an old Gerry Anderson show like Thunderbirds or UFO. May not have been the effect you were trying to achieve, but if it was it's very convincing.

Dangeruss has many good points. I agree with all of them.
It looks good though, just needs fixing.

Thank you guys for your comments!
You´re absolutely right, I have to rework those issues.
I´ve got some nice ideas, I´ll just have to wait until I get my new PC - the old one is hardly able to handle this little scene.. My old PC is limited on 256 MB Ram :buttrock:
Cheers!

@Skyraider3D: Thank you! Your website is quite impressive to be honest :applause:
The light´s consist of spheres with a 100% self-illuminating material with a very low output-map. A normal white-red glow-effekt is also applied to them. I slightly increased the glow afterwards in Photoshop because I wasn´t satisfied with it in the first place.
Thank you all
