Heyas, this is quie a newbie question, however i haven't been able to find a good answer. You see, i'm currently trying to map a character for an animation, and i'm running into some UVW map troubles. I've read through a bunch of tutorials, and i still can't understand how i can edit the UVW maps on one side, then mirror the model so i don't have to spend days adjusting each side of a symmetrical model. Whenever i try doing this, either the mapping channels automatically reset, or 3dsmax crashes.

Levitatime, in one of his mapping tutorials did this, however i haven't been able to do it in Max.

Any help would be much appreciated

In a nutshell...

Delete half the model, add/edit/tweak the UVs, add a Symmetry modifier (mirror model, don't weld), add a UVW Unwrap modifier (turn on Select Element, select one side, mirror it, move it, weld the seam), collapse the stack, weld the model seam.
