View Full Version : Maya: keyframe detach object from path

What I'm wanting to do is key an event that will release my rigged character from the motion path its attached to so that i can animate it without having it follow the path over time.

My scene involves a motorcycle and its rider crashing and the rider being thrown off of the bike.

I'm having a horrendous time trying to find documentation on any process that would help me to understand how to do this. So I could use some help if possible.

Use a Parent constraint to link the Object to a Dummy following the path.

I suppose that would be the best and most efficient way. I was hoping that I wouldnt have to keyframe the whole thing again since its all attached and keyed.
