Hi,

I am trying to texture my model, and have exported a UV Snapshot (Maya 2008) and loaded it into Photoshop to texture.
However I am having trouble trying to colour in the texture without colouring in the white lines of the UV snapshot.

My question is, is there a way to paint the image without painting over the white lines?
Im sure there is a simple solution, but cannot find it in photoshop or on google!!!

Thanks,

James

If the UV Snapshot image is white lines on a black background, then try putting that image in a layer above the layer you're painting color on, and set its blending mode to "Screen".

If you have CS4 Extended, you can import an obj version of your model, and then open the texture layer. Then, 3D/Create UV Overlays/Wireframe will create a new layer of your UV map (with alpha).

The 3D capabilities in Photoshop are really not great.
