nevermind this thread.
the issue is solved.
one has always to use a gamma correct node for Maya swatches even when rendering to a float format. the second render is actually the "right" one

Keep on sending bug reports royterr! It's the only way.
It can't be that hard to add a "linear workflow" checkbox if Vray did it in their beta as a feature request. One day in Maya there will be a time where we dont' have to use hundres of gammaCorrect nodes!
