The visuals are great, and the animation superb, but I don't really get the story. I mean Iunderstand what happened, but I don't see what the point was.

Otherwise, great job.

Very impressive! I definitely dug on the lighting and animation. The character (Jim) very much felt like a real living guy and his facial reactions were definitely priceless. Keep up the good work!

visuals are good but the story is non-existent. What was the whole point?

I loved it, great job! As for the point of the short? It was to entertain, that's what the point was. There doesn't always have to be some deep, artistic story to go along with an animation. It was a very pleasing short, and it did its job by entertaining the audience. Job well done!

That, in my opinion, is a load of crap. I agree that the story doesn't have to be deep and artistic but there should be at least some semblance of a story. I enjoyed the short but it left me wondering what the hell I just watched. Visuals were awesome but a short film can't be carried by visuals alone. This is a simple rule of film making.

Thanks for the feedback ppl, appreciate it. I'll make sure the next one has a stronger story. It is my weak area.

Opinions are always welcome, karabo, but do you think you could express your opinion without saying my observation is a load of crap? That's insulting to say about anyone's post, and it goes against Rule #1 before posting.

I think I put it too simply in my first post by saying the point was to entertain. I saw the story in the short, so I thought the others who posted that there was no point to the short were looking for a deeper, more meaningful story than the existing one. Here's the story I saw:

It is about a space delivery pilot who suffers from prolonged solitude during the long, interstellar journey to deliver a fragile package to its destination, and his narrow escape from death by navigating through an asteroid field. I think it was clever to add that bit of dementia, because it's a very human thing to do when one has to endure such a long trip completely alone. Having him competent enough to steer his ship through the hazard was also a good choice, showing that the pilot wasn't totally loony.

And that's it. I think it is because there was no development into the reason behind the shipment, or why the package needed to be handled with care, or what the condition of the package was after the near-collision was never revealed, are reasons why some people claim there is no story to it. It's probably more a matter of opinion on what constitutes a story, so there would be no satisfying everyone if that were the case then.
