My name is Stanley Von Medvey, I'm a concept artist in the video game industry by day, and a space exploration activist by night. I'm a recently joined member of the National Space Society, which is what brings me here.
I am creating a promotional video for the International Space Development Conference 2010.
This conference is being held in Chicago, IL at the O'hare Intercontinental Hotel in May. So far, every year, it's been largely a technical conference for people who work in the aerospace industry. This year however, we want to turn it into an expo, where companies like SpaceX, Bigelow, and Virgin Galactic would showcase their technology to the public...
...an event where you can learn how to get involved in the growing field of private spaceflight.
This video is going to be a vision of a near future where we have achieved an interplanetary economy. The script is still being revised, but May 2010 is nearer than it seems, and we'd like the video circulating the internet well before then, preferably by winter this year. There are enough elements nailed down that we know what we need help with.
I am doing this entirely pro-bono on my own time, and on my own dollar in some cases. Why?
Because the American space program is being systematically gutted by lack of vision and lack of initiative from our leadership. It is up to us, the private citizens of the United States, France, China, India, Russia, Germany, Japan to create our future, to encourage innovation, and to take our destiny among the stars!
So what am I looking for?
I'm looking for 3D modelers to volunteer time to build models based on my concept artwork, or on descriptions/technical studies I provide.
These models will be highly realistic / based on real-world space technology, though much more attractive and grander in scope.
I'm going to work as fast as I can to provide any volunteers with concept artwork, but here are the ships/items that are needed:
Lunar Rover
Lunar Cargo Lander
Lunar Base Modules
Astronauts
Space Tugs
LEO Logistics Station
Asteroid Mining Cargo Vessel
Asteroid Mining Drill Vessel
Solar Electric Vehicle
MASER Light Craft
Two Stage to Orbit Vehicle
Space Solar Power platform
I am working now to accumulate concept artwork for this project, while building some (not-listed) elements myself. Here is a sample of the concept artwork I am creating for this project:

The look and visual development is to be unlike what you see with NASA. Think SpaceShipOne and Burt Rutan: private space exploration vehicles that are interesting, attractive, and colorful!
Imagine vehicles in brilliant and vibrant Arabian livery, sleek graphic design, or anything but black, grey, and white alone.
I am completely open to concept artwork assistance as well, if you have a better or more interesting take on a spaceship, great!
Models should be detailed, because the video will be available in HD.
I will be taking these models and animating/rendering them myself.
So what's in it for me?
I'm a space activist, that means that I deeply believe that humanities future belongs in space, and that it may well rescue our civilization. I am looking for people with a similar enthusiasm, who care about space exploration and want to do their part to contribute.
I have no monetary compensation to offer, however there is a possibility that any work done is tax deductible, since the National Space Society is a registered 501(c)3 charity. I cannot guarantee a tax deduction, but I will work hard to secure it for anyone who volunteers their time.
All volunteers will be credited, names displayed at the end of the video, and there is no non-disclosure, you can use this video for your reels, and show anyone you like.
So let's get to work!
The video has to be ready by mid-winter!
