View Full Version : MR - Exclude from Reflection or Refraction only?
DerPapa 08-28-2009, 10:02 AM Is it possible to Exclude an Object just from reflection or refraction?
The object properties only offers reflection/refraction at once.
cheers

Sorry if this sounds like a silly reply, but couldn't you just disable relec/refrac at the material
level? I know it dosn't answer your question but it's an option.

Indeed! why not disabling refraction for my glass material!...? Sorry, but it IS silly ;)
Anyway, thanks to Dave "maxplugins.de,-find-ich-gut" Baker for his personal support in this case.
-Make a Mental Ray Mat
-Put a "mr Raytype switcher" map into the Surface slot (this map is already in Max 2010, otherwise search for "production_max.mi")
- Put a "material to shader" map into each slot you want to use
- put the desired Material/Map into the slot.
e.G. if you want to render a glass bottle, and use a HDRI for reflections, but another HDRI for Refraction, you can do this by adding different maps to the raytype switcher.
cheers
Michael
