I'm sorry buddy but I have to say this.. there is funny violence and there is bad violence. I'd say yours steps just that bit too far into bad taste. I didn't find much in it that I appreciated and certainly not funny. The head on a stake thing was kind of done in Natural Born Killers (but Francis Ford had the sense to take the scenes where Tommy Lee Jone's head was impaled on a stake out of celluloid release- you do get to see it on the dvd though)
Still, I guess its good you get it out onto iFilm.com even though its not my cup of tea.

The animation is not bad. I found the characters a little too stiff. But the story....... oh man...... :thumbsdow
That's sick!! You should've least put in a warning.:shame:

I wrote the story when I was 14 years old, but I still like it a lot. Maybe I should put up a warning, but other than that I don't think it's worse that your everyday Arnold movie.
Anyway, thanks for your input! More comments are appreciated.

Wasn't that Oliver Stone?

"Natural Born Killers" was written n directed by Oliver Stone.
My friend, the head on the stick is the the punchline, the climax, what ties the whole thing together. If it's too violent for you, fine, but it's not too violent for me. After all, it's a short animated film, not a documentary. I still respect your opinion but if every movie was sugar sweet like "for the birds" etc, how booring would that be?

I dont get it.
I dont care about the violence, I just dont get the ending.
there was a terrific violent animation (totally forgot the name) but it had some dude in africa chaseing this giant rat thing. and it was hard core blood - i think it was on spike and mike sick and twisted animation fest-
but it was funny- it was like a Willie coyote of today's standard of violence. what was once R is now nc17 on the TV.
Although the film I mention above was funny because it had a lot of character- and they didn’t express it with words but with their movement. If anyone can post it that would be great.
The characters in your film are jagged –rigid no real personality other then their appearance. Its like a rich urban biker heh.
but other than that keep at it man.

I think that the edits were a bit too long.
Would have been funnier if it were a bam/bam/bam kind of thing IMHO.
The lighting I think gives your characters a lambertarian evenness which tends to suck a bit.
The biker seems to see the 'jump' and look forward too it. This detracts from the story.
I'm thinking "yea, so thin guy collects heads." WHY he is doing it is the thing that seems important.
Keep 'em coming!

I really like the thin guy's walk. I think you did a nice job with that. Fingers wiggling as the camera pans up... nice. The bike crash was well done, as well. And good sound overall.
I just think the shock or climax arrives too early. Then there's a wait for the next payoff which doesn't deliver as much impact. Although, I do like the little dance a whole lot... pretty sick character!
Also, did anyone else wonder why a man with no shoes is wearing a sweater in the desert?
Only kidding. Looking forward to seeing more from you soon.

I thought that Francis Ford or whoever I wrote directed the movie was a bit odd. One of my favourite movies by the way.
Umm.. NBK is also not a documentary and it is incredibly violent too but how far should you push violence? While I understand that it is not too violent for you - it is however violent and your shortfilm is going out to anyone who can gain access to it . And this includes 8-14 year olds on their broadband modem. I hope I didn't sound like I was raining on your parade. I think it's great you get it out and people are watching it. My point on the violence is.. how should I put this.
THere's another guy who did this series of shortfilms called "Roadkill" - I think there are 4. There's one with pigs, one with birds, turtle and something I forgot. It was violence for the sake of violence. I found them all to be boring because he pretty much played his cards with his title. Roadkill.
Actually I would say that the punchline in your piece isn't the head on the stick but the wide shot with all those heads.

There's nothing much wrong with this, he should've added a lil warning as the pounding on the stake kinda made me cringe, but other than that this is on the level of itchy and scratchy (tho they don't play much of them anymore) www.joecartoon.com or www.happytreefriends.com those are comedy, but this I saw the punch line the minute I seen the ramp and bridge, it was too expected, the "violent" part wasn't really warranted in my opinion, it seems you just wanted to be violent in some way and that's what you did.
Aside from that, the animation isn't all too bad, the thin guy has a pretty descent walk cycle, and the lil naunces in his character was pretty good.
But dude I have no idea what the story is about, other than the fact the nameless thin guy, likes to kill bikers and collect their heads, what happens if a car hits the ramp? What I'm basically saying, it needs alot more thought ;)

where is the actual animation? i went through loads of links but still no anim?

Well, if you from the beginning understand that there will be a long line of heads then ofcourse the storyline fails. However, most people don't and they are suprised when they see the last shot. "what if a car came?" - there is no car! This is fiction, not reality, anything can happen, maniacs have no shoes, and bikers die left and right.
To me this isn't very violent at all. It's on a comic book level with no accual ties to reality. The rape scene in "Boys Don't Cry", the murders in "Salvador", now that's some real horrible violence that touches me on a much deeper level.
The short I did touches me in the sence that I think it's funny (very funny accualy) but that's just me. I have no affection for violence if thats what you think.
Anyway, I still appreciate all your comments.

No need to get defensive, you post your work it will be critiqued. I wasn't saying I saw the end, there's no way I could see that, what I was mentioning is that I knew the biker would slam into the bridge one way or another, it's your only props, see what I mean? It's like putting a hole in a floor and have a character walk towards it, what's going to happen? either he'll fall in or evade it and fall in something else, so what I'm saying is that it's too predictable to be "funny".
The line of heads thing I knew would happen when the camera pulled out at the scene though, it's because it's been done. That's what I mean by thinking it through a bit more. Maybe this tickles you in a special way, but we the general audience won't necessarily get it, know what I mean?
I actually thought something was funny tho, a chubby biker jumping a ramp on a Harley of all bikes, that's an accident waiting to happen ;)

Twisted! I love it.
Where did you get your motorcycle sounds? I need some for my short film.

I got some from "the zillion sounds CD" $15 (a real pice of crap, you gotta be very creative about it to get anything good out of it)
I also used EDGE effects vol. 1 from Hollywood Effects, which is more proffessional but it's about $290, so it aint cheap.
You could check out http://www.findsounds.com/
to get some for free...
Good effect archives cost a lot of money, so see if you can work your way around it somehow.

BTW also check out http://www.flashkit.com/ for some royalty free sounds.
