need to get some fresh eyes on this... and maybe some talent, i seem to be lacking in that area.

this isnt the whole animation, this is the only part i really wanted to see at the moment. Let me know whats good/not good/needs fixing/etc.

The bright edge shading on the cells looks weird since there's no light established in the scene to account for it.

yeah that was a luminosity falloff map i applied to it. i just pretty much scrapped the whole thing and will try it again from a different approach or just redo it all together.
