Does anyone know where I can get labels for liquor bottles needed for texturing. I went to the local liquor store and they let me take pictures, but every one has a bad glare on them or badly blurred. Not to much of a photographer.

Thanks for any help

Thrice I've had to do a wine bottle model, but it is always hard to photograph the label.

I used 3 different aproaches each time:

1.- I iluminated the bottle with a direct light on the right side and took a photograph, then i switched the light and took a photo of the left side, that way i got all the overexposure on one side of the bottle, and i could "easily" composite the two photos togheter. (i was using a really lame consumer grade 2 megapixels camera :-p)

2.- I spoke to the client and asked for a label and scanned it (after ruining a bottle trying to detach it myself).

3.- I only had access to a blurry photo, so i used What the font! (http://new.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/) to get the font I needed, and hand traced the rest, then i used a paper texture and used a blend material to get the golden letters there.

Put the bottle in hand-warm water with a drop of dishwashing detergent. The label will come of easely after an hour. Probably soaked of itself by that time. Then lay it drying on a sheet of white paper until its dry and then scan it in.

You might find at least the logo here (if you want to try making your own label):

It's a friggin collection of liquor bottle labels. lol.. people sell anything. They're not the biggest picture (not sure how what size you need) and there's just a few brands, but it's somethin I suppose.

Hope this helps. Peace out.
