View Full Version : Question about cloth sim
Hey all...
I'm wanting to create an image where a particular product is covered with a cloth or a drape taking on the shape of the object below (like if you put a curtain over your car) this is for a web page... the day the page goes live, I'll replace the image with the uncovered one. Is there a way in Max5 to do this without a cloth plugin? I've thought about FFD's but the object is pretty complex. I'm really stumped and at a loss. If anyone can give the ideas, it would be greatly appeciated.
thanks in advance!

one should think that, if you invest multiple thousands of dollars in an app, you'd at least know about major features like cloth sim :D
you can do all of that with reactor, just take a look at the reactor manual :wip:
one would think that. But if one never had a need to use it before, what would the point be? I do some product modelling at work... and usually nothing to do with cloth... hell, I've never touched particles and don't know anything about character studio either. Just because you're an expert in all areas of the software, doesn't mean that everyone else is. some of us don't aspire to be anything more than what they are. thanks for the reply.

Try going here:
www.chaosgroup.com
And download simcloth3. It's a much better solution to cloth sims than reactor, and it's free.
We've had a few threads about this sort of thing in the past...In fact, I actually released a scene with some cool cloth effects similar to what you want to achieve. I'll go find 'em...
Be right back...
:EDIT: Found it!

All the way at the bottom of the page, I've got a bunch of links to animations, and to that scene I was talking about.
Have a look, and remember, go grab simcloth! Best of luck, buddy! Post back if you have any questions.
