:wavey: Hi! all, I've recently developed a simple ICE shader for personal project..Please,
critics most welcome.
Renderer: Maya software renderer,2 point neutral light set.
render time: 8.00 secs

Thanks a ton for your time. :)

That looks really good. The second one really succeeds in appearing to have a layer of snow/ice on top. Well done. Imagine what you can do with mental ray ;)

Hi! phix314, Thanks a lot for your reply.Well, yes i ve tried mentalray before ,i agree with you always, you can definitely build a kick ass shader though. But,my goal was the lesser rendertime for tv commercial. Thanks again.

Yea totally understand. I'd just love to see how far you can take this for a still piece (screw rendertime ;) ) with as powerful a renderer as mr.

Just curious, how many nodes do you have plugged in to the shader?

Here you go again: A bit change in the shader..added specular breakup and a bit of displacement..Thank :)

I think thats the lovely thing about shaders like this.. you can massively change the outcome and it still registers as a cold ball. :) Good lookin network - not too complicated, but highly effective.

I have been working a lot on shaders the last day or two, and I've been posting my results here:

I have to admit, I had to take a crack at an ice shader after I saw this ;)
