Hi,
I'm rendering out a walk cycle, but I am getting these weird shadows below my character's feet so that it looks like the they are floating above the ground.
I've positioned the feet so that they slightly intersect with the ground but I am still getting those shadows.
One possible cause is that I had the feet point/orient constrained earlier in the sequence, and the proper position for the foot when the constraint is 'keyed' off is not being read by maya. (I hope this makes sense)
I suspect this may be the problem because whenever I scrub through the timeline, I have to scrub through the keyframe that I turned the constraint off in. If I don't do this, the feet will be in the wrong position after the constraint is keyed off.
There is another reason why I think this is the problem. If I do an individual test render at a frame that I know the foot is firmly on the ground, it looks correct. However, when I do a batch render it 'floats' again.
Has anyone experienced this type of problem?
I am thinking of cheating this by playing with the Depth Map bias or Dmap focus, but I'm not sure how it works, any suggestions?
also is there a better way of using constraints where this won't happen?
thanks in advance.
Patrick
