View Full Version : Environment: penthouse interior/exterior
Sebastian 08-05-2003, 08:01 PM Hi all...finally posting some stuff that I've worked on.
I have two renders for you guys of a project I've been working on with my colleagues at my job.
It's a building with penthouses on the top floor. One render shows the exterior of the penthouse and the other the interior with a shot of the living room.
(note: the renders were made within a deadline, so if I had more time I would have gone into more detail)
Software used:
-3dStudioMax5.1 and Photoshop
-Both were rendered with vray advanced, which we recently bought...and I must say..It's amazing what vray can accomplish!! I love it!!
Credit: Jeroen Beuk, Niels Sinke (aka:Nelis) and Sander Mastbergen and me off course.
Hope you like them.
Sebastiaan.

Very nice. I especially like the inside render. Its just a bit shy of photoreal, but still nice.

Wie ben jij, je achternaam bedoel ik :)
Geweldig werk! Alleen vind ik het tafeltje + stoelen helemaal links niet mooi, het mist de bevel? :)

Great work! Only I think the table + chairs on the left aren't good, it's missing the bevel? :)

Not everything is build with great detail, because of the time limit we have for the projects. If I only had given more time, I would have done it.
could you post a wire frame please?
I'll put it up tomorrow. I don't have the scene at home, so I'll have to make it at work.
Thanks for the comments so far!!

Very nice work! The lighting is right on.
Did you model the furniture as well?
My only critic would be the white carpet, it looks pasted in, no shadows along the edge and it looks like a noise map with no real texture to it.
What kind of timeframe did you have on this project?
Again, very nice images!

We did use some furniture from previous projects, but everything is made by us.
I agree with you on the carpet...and I can tell you why it looks a bit crap and pasted in. The material has some self illumunation to it...we assigned that in a previous project because it was to dark... so the detail in the texture is a bit lost.. But I forgot to change it in this scene...
Our timeframe was like a week (3 people working on the project, but not all full-time, except me)

WOW,...the interior shot looks reaaally good...but i do think that the exterior looks a bit flat.
Anyway keep it up and post some more if you can.

I wish they made it for Maya.

I'm trying to figure out where the light source is coming from that is lighting the table and chairs with the laptop on it. Kinda wierd looking. There's no light fixture where the light should be coming from ,and it apperas to be at the wrong angle from the outside light source. In fact, the shading on that table and chairs is the flatest part of the whole image. I'd tweak that a good bit as I think it's the image's biggest detractor.
Other than that, it's pretty good.

I must agree with the table on the left looking very out of sorts with the overhead light no actually being there and the shadows a little too strong. Just fix that and it would be perfect.
As to the exterior shot I think the bricks really let it down. If you tweak them more it would look alot better. The front of the building with the balconies looks perfect to me.
